ALBA crea oportunidades para los trabajadores de campo de bajos ingresos a través de la capacitación en la tierra en el manejo de granjas orgánicas, ayudándoles a avanzar en sus carreras o perseguir el sueño de ser propietarios de una granja.

CBS did a beautiful story on Espiri Santos’ journey from farmworker to farm owner. Espiri’s story exemplifies ALBA’s mission to create economic opportunity for limited-resource farmers, the majority of whom are Mexican immigrant farmworkers. On our 100-acre farm in the heart of the Salinas Valley, ALBA provides education, on-farm training and subsidized access to land and farm equipment to aspiring farmers over 5 years, enabling them to achieve the dream of organic farm ownership. Through the program, ALBA has launched and incubated over 250 organic farms, over 90% of which are Latino owned organic farms.

Your donations will help farmworkers take the bold leap to farm ownership, and contribute to bringing greater equity and sustainability to agriculture.

Build a Brighter Future for Farm Workers At ALBA

We believe in the potential of every farmworker to become an independent and successful farmer. Our commitment to creating opportunities through the Farmworker Opportunity Center is a testament to this belief.

Despite years of experience, many Latino farmworkers earn a mere $30,000 annually, facing barriers to career advancement. Our unique program offers land-based training in organic farm management, empowering these dedicated individuals to take charge of their futures.

The Farmworker Opportunity Center represents ALBA’s largest investment, designed to expand our classroom and workspace, allowing us to provide essential training and resources to even more farmers. This center will not only support individuals in achieving their dreams but will also serve as a hub for sustainable farming education, attracting researchers and media to highlight the potential of Latino farmers as leaders in the organic farming movement.

We have already begun this important project, securing 20% of the estimated $2 million cost. However, we need your help to reach our goal. By donating, you can be a part of this transformative journey, helping farmworkers become the future of sustainable agriculture.
